On behalf of His Excellency the Governor of Nampula Province, Eduardo Mariamo Abdula, Dr. Nacohi presided this Sunday, September 27, on the Island of Mozambique, at the central act of World Tourism Day, where he praised the Government of Daniel Chapo for electing tourism as a priority sector for GDP growth.
Under the motto "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism", he said that the theme reflects the need to make tourism more efficient and future-proof, stressing that technology is a bridge to connect people, opportunities and knowledge.
The Representative took stock of the activities started on September 15, with visits to tourist enterprises within the scope of the National Registry, lectures to hotel workers and motorcycle and vehicle taxi drivers on tourist service and mobility, and a welcome campaign at Nampula airport.
The program on the 27th included a roundtable, an art and craft fair, a gastronomic show, a visit to the Immersion Center and the launch of the Wamphula Noophiya Festival, which closes on November 20 and 21 in Nacala, to unite the 23 districts in cultural exchange.
One of the highlights was the demonstration of the use of QR Codes, which reduce printing costs, facilitate content updating and generate data on the most visited places, transforming a board into a portal with stories, maps and audios in several languages in a simple scan.
The memorandum was also signed with the artist Filomena Maricoa, new ambassador of the Wamphula Noophiya brand, who assumes the responsibility of producing content and promoting the destination on her platforms with ethics and professionalism.
The representative justified the choice of the Island as a World Heritage Site, an icon of provincial tourism and the headquarters of training institutions such as UniLúrio and the Polytechnic Institute.
In closing, he challenged Government, the private sector, academia and civil society to transform ideas into jobs and heritage preservation, using AI to personalize journeys and optimize services, but with ethics, data protection and without losing the human touch of Nampulian hospitality.
