Three days of drums
Tufo is a women's Islamic dance performed with goatskin drums and chants in Kiswahili and Emakhwa. It was born on the Island of Mozambique more than 300 years ago, under Arab and Swahili influence, and spread along the whole coast — from Angoche to Memba.
Each community has its own group, costumes and melodies, making every performance unique. The exact date varies: the festival takes place after Ramadan.
